How can we help?
Many businesses out there get frustrated with social media because either they ‘don’t get it’ or they just don’t have the time to bother with it. This is the equivalent of not falling at the first hurdle, but falling before the race has even started.
With the right outlook and management, social media can bring your business great brand awareness, a positive public image, and possibly even a few sales along the way. But how do you get that success when you don’t know what you are doing? By reading our Top 5 tips for social media greatness!
Take the time to think about your business. Who are your customers? Who will be interested in what you have to say? Will your messages be in an appropriate form? To use some examples: an accountancy firm would be more suited to LinkedIn than Instagram, on the other hand, a hair salon may have more success on Instagram than LinkedIn. Play to your audience.
Your profile is where you showcase what your business is all about. If you don’t put the time into making it great, then you can’t expect people to put the time into reading it. Each social media network has its own requirements for your profile page, but our general advice is: fill in every piece of information that you can. That way you ensure nothing is missing. Showcase your business.
Anyone can stand at the top of a platform and scream things. To be truly great at social media you have to interact with people. What is the point of social media if you don’t socialise right? By building strong relationships with people through social media, your messages can be shared even outside of your network & reach from a respected, credible source. Get engaged.
It’s quite simple really. People would rather look at pictures and watch videos than read paragraphs of text. If you can say a message in a picture and a few words, as opposed to a paragraph, then do it. If you find a fantastic video that really sums up your business, then post it. You will soon find that often posts with rich media will far outperform those with just basic text. Make it visually pleasing.
With social media, inevitably at some point, you will encounter either a complainer or a troll. Complainers are easier to deal with as they will generally have a genuine problem that can be solved. Trolls are people who are looking to get a reaction from something they will controversially post. To deal with them, simply think about your business’s personality and either: ignore/delete the post, reply in a calm and professional manner, or hit back with a humorous but controlled reply. Keep calm and post on.
I know we said 5 but who doesn’t like a nice even number?
